It behooves us to keep a diary or journal of these months under quarantine. One question is, “What strange thing has happened to you?”

One of my “favorites” is about masks. Has this happened to you? You get out of your car at the store, smile at others in the parking lot, take ten or twenty steps then say, “Whoops!”

You exited your car and started toward the entrance without your face mask. Whoops.

It happens to me. I won’t say how often.

What do you do when this happens?

I shake my head, smile at my own stupidity, head back to the car and don the mask.

You should know that usually I have a face mask folded up in my pocket against these mistakes. But I forget often enough to…. well, you get it.

It is enough to remind us we need Jesus.

The Bible says, “In my distress I called upon the LORD;
       I cried to my God for help.
From His temple He heard my voice,
       and my cry for His help reached His ears.” (Psalm 18)

Okay, leaving the facemask on the dashboard is not a life-threatening situation (or is it?) but the point is made.

The point is this. Left to my own devices, I am in real trouble. I need God. I need Jesus on the cross standing in for me.

Things are happening to us we could never have foreseen. The truth is God is with us in the situation, no matter what it is.

God is greater than all my problems.

Please pray with me. Lord, help me to know that no matter what comes my way, it comes OUR way. Lord, help me to know that no matter it looks like, you stand with me. Help me to trust that nothing can separate me from your love in Jesus. Help me to forgive myself for my silly mistakes. I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
