Here is a passage from Hebrews 11:
“6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

We are mindful that God seeks us. That, however, is not a reason to sit on our hands.

The hymn says, “Early in the morning our son shall rise to thee.”

Can you think of a better way to begin each day than to shut down a busy mind and tune in to God?

St Augustine wrote, “Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.”

Psalm 1 puts it this way:

Psalm 1
The Two Ways
1 Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers;
2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law they meditate day and night.
3 They are like trees
planted by streams of water,
which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

In Psalm 121 we read:

Psalm 121
Assurance of God’s Protection
A Song of Ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
from where will my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
8 The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time on and forevermore.

When we open our eyes in the morning, let us call on God. All throughout the day and the last thing at night, let us seek out God.

Psalm 27 says,
One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

Let us pray. Lord, help us to put nothing ahead of you. Lord, help us to make you the foundation, built upon the rock. Lord, help us to put you first and last and everywhere between. Give us faith and hope we pray. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
